Indirect search for Dark Matter with the ANTARES neutrino telescope
نویسنده
چکیده
Relic neutralinos produced after the Big Bang are favoured candidates for Dark Matter. They can accumulate at the centre of massive celestial objects like our Sun. Their annihilation can result in a high-energy neutrino flux that could be detectable as a localised emission with earthbased neutrino telescopes like ANTARES. In this paper a brief overview of the prospects of the indirect search for Dark Matter particles with the ANTARES detector will be given. The analysis method and expected performance for the detection of the expected neutrinos will be discussed. Indirect Dark Matter Search with Large Neutrino Telescopes
Dark matter is one of the main goals of neutrino astronomy. At present, there are two big neutrino telescopes based on the Cherenkov technique in ice and water: IceCube at the South Pole and ANTARES in the northern hemisphere. Both telescopes are performing an indirect search for Dark Matter by looking for a statistical excess of neutrinos coming from astrophysical massive objects. This excess ...

The ANTARES collaboration is currently operating the largest neutrino detector in the Northern Hemisphere. One of the goals of ANTARES is the search for dark matter in the universe. In this paper, the first results on the search for dark matter in the Sun with ANTARES in its 5 line configuration, as well as sensitivity studies on the dark matter search with the full ANTARES detector and the fut...
متن کاملSearch for Dark Matter in the Sun with the ANTARES Neutrino Telescope in the CMSSM and mUED frameworks
ANTARES is the first neutrino telescope in the sea. It consists of a threedimensional array of 885 photomultipliers to collect the Cherenkov light induced by relativistic muons produced in CC interactions of high energy neutrinos. One of the main scientific goals of the experiment is the search for dark matter. We present here the analysis of data taken during 2007 and 2008 to look for a WIMP s...

The ANTARES collaboration is building a deep underwater neutrino Cerenkov telescope at 2400 m which will be located off the Mediterranean sea coast near Toulon, France. The main scientific aims of the experiment are the detection of high energy upgoing muons coming from astrophysical neutrinos, indirect dark matter searches, the study of atmospheric neutrino oscillations. The detector will be c...
متن کاملRecent results from the ANTARES neutrino telescope
The ANTARES neutrino telescope is currently the largest operating water Cherenkov detector and the largest neutrino detector in the Northern Hemisphere. Its main scientific target is the detection of high-energy (TeV and beyond) neutrinos from cosmic accelerators, as predicted by hadronic interaction models, and the measurement of the diffuse neutrino flux. Its location allows for surveying a l...
